Look Who’s Choosing .kiwi

Something interesting is happening.

For years, Kiwi businesses have defaulted to .com or .co.nz

But we are starting to see a shift towards alternate domains such as .ai, .co and .me. However, these are all country codes and are owned offshore. Our Kiwi-owned and operated alternative .kiwi is growing!

Since November last year, new .kiwi registrations have grown by more than 300%, signalling a surge in interest from businesses that want their online identity to reflect where they’re from.

So we thought we would take a look at who is choosing .kiwi.

We have already highlighted well-known brands including The Warriors, Simplicity KiwiSaver, The Collective (the yoghurt with the cow on it), and Rowing New Zealand.

But they’re not alone.

Across Aotearoa, businesses of all shapes and sizes are choosing to make their Kiwi identity clear in the most visible place possible — their web address.

Here are just a few of them.

A $3 Billion Property Portfolio → kpg.kiwi

Kiwi Property is one of New Zealand’s largest listed property companies, creating and curating communities where people can work, shop, play and stay.

With a property portfolio worth more than $3 billion, they’re behind some of the country’s most successful mixed-use, office and retail spaces — all built with a focus on placemaking and sustainability.

Empowering the Next Generation → agrifutures.kiwi

AgriFutures has a clear purpose: motivating and supporting rangatahi to pursue careers in New Zealand’s food and fibre sector.

By helping young people explore opportunities in agriculture and primary industries, they’re investing in the future of one of Aotearoa’s most important sectors.

Distinctively New Zealand Wine → fernridgewines.kiwi

Family-owned Fern Ridge Wines celebrates the iconic silver fern and the sun-soaked vineyards of Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay.

Their wines are crafted in a fruit-forward style with complexity and elegance — a distinctly New Zealand collection rooted in local vineyards and Kiwi heritage.

A Local Favourite in Tekapo → bluelake.kiwi

Nestled in the heart of Tekapo, Blue Lake Eatery & Bar offers a relaxed dining experience with a distinctly New Zealand flavour.

Locally owned and operated, they pride themselves on preparing as much as possible from scratch and supporting other independent producers — from award-winning beer to small coffee roasters.

Engineering Healthy Homes → healthyhome.kiwi

Healthy Home Cooperation believes warm, draught-free, resilient housing should be a right for every New Zealander.

Through energy modelling and engineering services for both new and retrofitted homes, they’re helping create healthier homes for people and the planet.

Different industries. Different regions. Different missions.

But the same value.  Proudly Kiwi.

Your domain name is often the first branding decision you make.

Before someone reads your About page.  Before they see your logo. Before they understand your values. They see your URL.

So the question is simple:

If you're building something Kiwi… does your web address say so?

Buy your .kiwi domain now at www.hello.kiwi or your trusted domain registrar.
